A former colleague with a lot of patience. He acted as my mentor by answering all my questions, looking at all my pictures and taught me everything I know about composition.
Gerard Schoth had already searched for a different kind of photography when he was studying at the 'School Grafische Vakken' (a graphical school) in Utrecht; by specific lighting of still lives he knew how to suggest a spatial reality. After 20 Years of 'playing' with photography and space has lead to different experiments. Gerard Schoth gets his inspiration from structures such as tree bark, leaf structures, but also weathered doors, old iron and paint splatters. He collects these colored pictures and assembles them to become spatial forms. He also combines photography with three-dimensional shapes of iron, rock and glass.

He askes you first what you want and then tries to find for you what suits you best even if you have to shop somewhere else.
